DeHaven-on-the-Hudson
DeHaven-on-the-Hudson is an all volunteer led and managed Aging in Place model. It was established in 2008 and was one of the County’s first Aging in Place programs with members primarily residing in condos and coops on the city's west side. The program has grown to include more than 130 members. Benefits of membership include monthly “lunch and learns,” holiday parties, day-trips, and luncheons and dinners at some of the area’s top restaurants. They also provide information and referral to community business and social service agencies, and importantly, friendly home visits.
The program is led and managed by a board of directors and dedicated volunteers. As an "all-volunteer" model, dues are a low $30 annually.

According to Barbara Weinbaum, the current president of DeHaven-on-the-Hudson, members love the social activities that the group offers. “Many of our members live alone and want to have a reason to get out and socialize. Our parties are always a hit and our day trips are routinely sold out. Some of our members were a bit difficult to coax into joining DeHaven,” she says. “One of our most enthusiastic members really was not interested in joining DeHaven-on-the-Hudson at first. She finally agreed to come on one trip. Well that one trip led to attending several events. At our last Valentines event, she won the box of chocolates for being the most enthusiastic ‘red guest’!”
